The aging wine cellars of the Castle of Spessa, among the oldest of the Collio Goriziano, are excavated right under the castle and are developed on two levels.
The first dates back to the medieval period: once used for the production of wine, today it is a barrel with exposed stones used for tastings and aperitifs.
The second level is 18 meters deep and is an old military bunker (1939). The bunker has a constant temperature of 14 ° C and is now a refining cellar for the prestigious red Cru of the Castle, as well as for the Grappa Riserva Conte Ludovico, aged over 20 years.
The guided tours begin with a projection of about 10 minutes and continue through the ancient water cistern, to reach the barriquerie with exposed stones and then descend the seventy steps leading to the bunker, now archive of the most important wines.
If you come to visit us, we will be happy to let you taste the wines of Castle of Spessa, Collio DOC and Friuli Isonzo DOC, as well as grappa and spirits.
