Fontechiara Winery is a family-run winery located in Borgomanero, in the Alto Piemonte area. It produces quality red wines, such as the famous Nebbiolo and the ancient Vespolina, all obtained from certified native vines and a faithful expression of the territory.
The vineyards are located right at the foot of the Alps, precisely in Bogogno, a few kilometers from two beautiful lakes: Lake Maggiore, with the famous towns of Stresa and Arona, and Lake Orta.
Their positive influence on the local microclimate, together with the excellent soil characteristics, make our area particularly suitable for the production of high quality wines.
Fontechiara is a "green" company and carries out its work with the greatest respect for the environment.
Our vineyards are cultivated with natural methods, also using some of the biodynamic techniques.
We believe that cultivating grapes without the use of chemicals, which can damage the soil and the plant and end up as residues in wine, is better for the planet and for those who drink.
Since 2018 Fontechiara has received the Vegan OK certification. This is because it produces wines without any adjuvant or clarifying of animal origin such as casein, gelatin, bone paste, or gelatine.
On the contrary, the wine is clarified by decantation, a traditional treatment, which is performed to clarify the must without the use of clarifying agents. This treatment, which requires more time, is done by cooling the must at temperatures from 6 to 10 ° C to reduce the solubility of the solid particles and therefore favor the precipitation of the impurities on the bottom.
The wine is then poured into another tank to repeat the treatment until the impurities are exhausted.
The proximity to the lakes (Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta), the Milan Malpensa airport and the short distance from Milan and Turin, facilitate the arrival of those who want to get away from traditional tourist routes to search for genuine flavors and discover the typicality of our wines and our products.
