Gunther and Klaus Di Giovanna, German mother and Sicilian father, run the family farm and produce local and international wines between Sambuca di Sicilia (AG) and Contessa Entellina (PA).
The love for the vineyards is a family matter, handed down for generations, with unchanged passion and profound pride.
All the vineyards (56 ha) are cultivated under the organic regime certified by Suolo e Salute s.r.l. since 1997.
The hills of Miccina, Gerbino and Paradiso, with mainly tufaceous soil, are located at 350-450 meters above sea level in the territory of Contessa Entellina. In the mountains, territory of Sambuca di Sicilia, at 650-850 meters above sea level, there are the vineyards of San Giacomo and Fiuminello. Here the soil is calcareous, rich in humus coming from the nearby forest full of oaks and holm oaks.
The winery is located within the Monte Genuardo Nature Reserve.
All the grapes are vinified separately according to origin and variety. The aging of whites and rosés occurs only in steel with long permanence on the fine lees mixed with regular bâtonnages. The red grapes, at the end of fermentation, macerate for a few days in warm weather and the aging takes place in French oak barrels. The wines are clarified only with bentonite and products of plant origin. All wines are endowed with particular elegance, structure, minerality and freshness.
With Di Giovanna brothers collaborates the enologist, Dr. Gianfranco Zito, and the external consultant, Prof. Cristophe Ollivier (Bordeaux) and the result are these wines, which we will have the pleasure of making you taste if you come to visit us:
