With the Scriani brand, the old nickname of our family, the Cottini family, we wanted to give identity to a long tradition spent in the wine industry.
We are located in Fumane, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica, an area famous for its wines.
The main vineyards are located on two beautiful hills: "Monte S. Urbano" to the east and "La Costa" to the west.
The management of the company is entrusted to Stefano Cottini, assisted by his wife Mariangela and his daughter Mara; a patriarchal family, for decades dedicated to wine.
Stefano has undertaken this activity as a young man, he fell in love with his vineyard, observing great producers, attending, documenting and updating on technological innovations, taking wisdom from the old values and experiences of the past, succeeding with simplicity and a drop of unconsciousness to impose the its authenticity, investing with passion everything, in the hope that, to the entrepreneurial value, the success will follow.
The land, located at an altitude ranging from 250 to 400 m a.s.l., is bordered by a picturesque torrent water course called "Vaio".
From the hills you can admire the beautiful and fascinating views that open on the same Valpolicella and extend from Verona to Lake Garda.
From an agronomic point of view, the composition of the soils is of medium mixture with decisive components of Eocene gray limestone and basaltic tuffs particularly suited to vineyards for high quality productions.
Vineyard management respects the environmental balance without resorting to water-food forcing and preserving the surrounding wooded areas. Cultivation treatments ranging from pruning to harvesting are done by hand, according to the concepts of the best and consolidated viticultural tradition.
The harvest, carried out exclusively with manual harvesting, is carried out in all the vineyards in a fractionated manner, mainly for the production of Recioto and Amarone.
For the grapes that originate these wines in fact we proceed to a selective collection, at the end of September, of the most exposed and sparse bunches that are then placed in small wooden boxes in well-ventilated drying lodges for a period of 100-120 days.
The splendid cellar department is carefully supervised to closely follow all the delicate wine-making phases. The family tradition foresees in fact operations of particular attention and delicacy. The cellar is equipped with containers of different nature and capacity: from stainless steel to Slavonian oak to the most modern barriques.
From the classic methods of winemaking to the suggestions of the technological innovation of the sector, Cottini deliver to the territory wines of excellent personality and strength. From the Valpolicella Classico, Superiore, Ripasso, the Recioto, Carpanè and the legendary Amarone. All amazing, intriguing and great, because they’re born in the countryside and not in the cellar.
